Crane Wife (Contest Entry)

The story of the Crane Wife:

 A man was taking a walk and stumbled upon a wounded crane. He heals it and watches as it flies off. The next day, he answers his door to see a beautiful woman who asks to assist in his life after she heard what he had done. The two marry, and the wife supports her husband by crafting beautiful cloths in a private room, where the husband may not disturb her while she is working. The cloths get him rich when he sells them, so one day the man got greedy and asked his wife to create as many as possible. He soon gets impatient and breaks into her privacy, only to see a crane removing its feathers and making the same beautiful cloth. The crane flies off and the man never sees his wife again.
